Cookies

This notice explains what TabOnly stores in the browser. The provider is the same person named in the Imprint. How personal data is used is described in the Privacy policy.

1. Summary

TabOnly does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, and it does not load a third-party consent tool. It does store a few items that the shortener needs: a sign-in cookie when you choose to log in, a short-lived cookie while that login is in progress, and the list of short links you created on this device.

Link marks next to a short link are drawn by the app.

2. Cookies

These cookies are set by TabOnly itself. They are not shared with an advertising network.

  • tabonly_session — only after you sign in with Bookmer. It keeps the sign-in for 30 days. It is an httpOnly cookie, sent only to TabOnly, and it is deleted when you log out. It holds the sign-in this browser already completed: your Bookmer user id, name, the email address you shared, and the profile image address when you shared one.
  • tabonly_oauth_state — only while you are sent to Bookmer LoginSign and back. It lasts about 10 minutes and is deleted when sign-in finishes or fails. It stops another site from completing the login in your place.
  • tabonly.lang — only after you choose a language in Settings. It stores that language for one year so a later visit to TabOnly opens in it. If you never choose a language, this cookie is not set, and the site follows the language of this browser, or English when that language is not offered.
  • tabonly.lang_return — only while you are sent to Bookmer to sign in, so you return to the same language. It lasts about 10 minutes.

The sign-in cookies are technically necessary for the sign-in you asked for. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. If you never sign in, those cookies are not set. The language cookie is stored only after you choose a language in Settings. Where the GDPR applies, its legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

3. Data stored in this browser

The short links on the home screen are kept in this browser’s local storage, not in a cookie.

  • your privacy choice, so this notice is not shown again
  • the short links created on this screen: the name, the short code, the target address, and any end date
  • a key that lets this browser open the stats for those links
  • appearance, sort order, and whether the footer is hidden, once you set them

Clearing the site data for TabOnly removes that list from this browser. It does not delete the short link on the server. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR and § 25 (2) TDDDG where the storage is needed to show the shortener you used. The privacy choice is kept so a refusal is remembered, under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR and § 25 (2) TDDDG.

Your browser may also keep pages and images in its own cache so they load again faster. That cache is controlled by the browser. TabOnly does not use it to recognise or follow you.

4. What is not used

  • No tracking or analytics cookies, and no other tracking technologies.
  • No cookies for advertising, marketing, retargeting, or profiling.
  • No cookies that give an ad network access to how you use TabOnly.
  • No social-media plugins and no third-party fonts. The typefaces are served by TabOnly.

Link marks next to a short link are drawn by the app.

5. Manage cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies and other site data at any time in your browser settings. Blocking every cookie also blocks the optional sign-in. The list on the home screen can be removed by clearing site data for TabOnly. The browser vendors explain the controls here:
